This hike was known as the beginning of the end to backpacking as we knew it... at least as far as the meals we had... nope, no more freeze dried foods... from here on it was a challenge to provide one dinner that consisted of normal food... preferrably steaks, maybe a cold beer... well, read on, you'll see...

Don couldn't find a good parking spot when we got to the start of the hike so he enlisted the help of a local contractor to clean off a concrete slab where he could park his jeep.

As we always do, we stopped for brunch before heading home, this time at a local cafe in the mountains. Heidi waited in the van but when she was let out after brunch, she was all excited and jumped up onto a retaining wall the enclosed a trout pond. Her momentum kept her going and she fell into the pond and could not get out on here own. Her owner ended up stripping down and diving in to come to her aid.
