Trip Planner - WHO PLANNED THIS ONE?
Hikers: Jae Eismann, Foster Webb, Don Landfreid, Dave Seykota, Jim Bishop, Brad Auftenburg, Don's Brother, Tim McKinney and Heidi
We were to meet Don and his brother on the AT in Shenandoah National Park at Behams Gap (milepost 28.6) and hike to Highway 55 (I - 66). Don and his brother were hiking the entire AT and had over 900 miles on their boots when we were to meet up with them.

The group from Chicago drove all night through the rain and realizing it was not going to give up, pulled into an abandoned gas station before entering the park to get our packs ready and don our rain gear. Everything in the gas station was covered in an inch of dirt and dust. We ended up late and found our two through hikers huddled under a small lean to just off the AT. I personally would have headed to a motel had someone else mentioned the word. Even Heidi, who normally loves hiking, had to be coaxed out of the van. The first day of the hike was in a steady rain all day.
